Models: in June 26, 2013 and December 1, 2014, the Grand Cherokee model, carrying 2.4 L engines or 3.2L engines and assembling the 948TE transmission, and the 200 model of the 2.4L engine and the 948TE transmission were produced in May 9, 2014 and October 23, 2014. Notification content: the 948TE 9 gear transmission control system assembled by the above model needs to be improved in software to modify the clutch action characteristics, prevent the shift of the C clutch clutches and improve the shift quality. Before upgrading the software, confirm that the software version of the malfunction diagnostic instrument wiTECH must be 15.02 or higher. In addition, in the process of software updating, the power system control unit (PCM) and automatic transmission control unit (TCM) need to be updated and programmed. Note: before the software update, battery charger should be installed to ensure that the battery voltage does not drop below 13.2 V. In the refresh process, do not let the charging voltage rise to more than 13.5 V. The specific update steps are as follows. (1) verify whether the TCM software is latest by using wiTECH. Has TCM been incorporated into the latest software? If "yes", enter step (3); if "no", enter step (2). (2) use the latest software programming TCM. By selecting the "HELP" on the top of the wiTECH window and the HELP CONTENTS (help content) option, you can get a detailed description of the refresh control unit that uses the wiTECH diagnostic application. This opens the "Welcome to wiTECH Help (welcome to wiTECH help)" screen, with various help topics available. Step into the step (3). (3) use wiTECH to verify whether the PCM software is up to date. Has PCM been incorporated into the latest software? If yes, then enter step (5); if "no", use the latest software to program PCM. (5) use wiTECH to perform the "VIN Verification (VIN code verification)" program of the transmission control unit in the TCM "Misc Functions" menu and operate according to the screen prompts. (6) use wiTECH to execute the vehicle to view the "PROM Configuration Alignment (PROX configuration calibration)" program on the "Vehicle Preparations" tab on the main screen. (7) turn off the ignition switch, disconnect wiTECH 1 min. (8), re turn on the ignition switch, and re connect wiTECH. (9) check the screen from the vehicle, select the "PROM Configuration Alignment (PROM configuration calibration)" program in the "Vehicle Preparations" tab, to verify that all modules are correctly calibrated. (10) clear any fault codes that are set up in other control units. The wiTECH application will automatically display all the trouble codes after refresh so that technicians can clear them. Step into the step (11). (11) check whether the vehicle is 2014 Cherokee? If "yes", enter step (12); if "no", enter step (15). (12) use wiTECH to enter the TCM data according to the prompt and find the transmission fill or fill the counter quickly. See if all counters are reset to 0 counts? If "yes", the self-adaptive learning program of the 9 gear transmission is carried out in accordance with the maintenance manual and then into the step (13); if "no", it goes directly into the step (13). (13) perform the transmission vehicle validation through the following steps. 1. Start the vehicle and let the coolant temperature reach 35-105 (95~221 degree F). 2. Let the transmission temperature reach 50~115 degrees centigrade (122~239 Jun). Ensure that the vehicle is at an altitude of less than 2348 m (8000 ft). (4) speed up the vehicle to a minimum of 48 km/h (30 mph) when the vehicle is in the right area and travel in a straight line. The transmission is preheated to at least 60 degrees (140 degrees F) through the following steps. (1) step down the brake. Change the transmission from the parking gear to the reverse gear. (3) change the transmission from the reverse gear to the forward gear. (4) speed up the vehicle to a minimum of 72 km/h (45 mph), so that the transmission can be circulated between the gears for a week. Continue to drive the vehicle until the transmission temperature reaches 60 degrees centigrade (140 degrees Celsius). Caution: if the vehicle is equipped with start stop function, it must be discontinued before executing the program. To discontinue, you can press the switch on the central switch group beside the HVAC controller. (17) the wiTECH fault diagnosis instrument is connected to the vehicle. (18) check whether there is a current fault code in the automatic transmission control unit. If there is a fault code, fast learning programs are prohibited. Repair the transmission as required. (19) select the TCM module in wiTECH. (20) select "Misc Functions (other functions)" option. Note: if the "Quick Learn" option does not appear on wiTECH, and TCM and PCM have just been updated, the wiTECH application is restarted, and the "Quick Learn (fast learning)" option should be displayed at this time. (21) select the "Quick Learn (fast learning)" program and reset the clutch adaptive value according to the screen instructions. (22) transfer the transmission to the parking gear and turn off the engine. Step into the step (23). (23) perform the transmission vehicle validation through the following steps. 1. Start the vehicle and let the coolant temperature reach 35~105 degrees (95~221 degrees F). 2. Let the transmission temperature reach 50~115 degrees centigrade (122~239 evenly). Ensure that the vehicle is at an altitude of less than 2348 m (8000 ft). (4) speed up the vehicle to a minimum of 48 km/h (30 mph) when the vehicle is in the right area and travel in a straight line. Repeat slide down 10 times (24) to see if PCM has set up U0402's current fault code. If "yes", see all current routine diagnostic procedures in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT on the U0402 fault code, and maintain it on demand according to the conventional warranty guide; if "no", step into the step (25).
